Oh, No!! You can’t get to your data?? Our tech, Brinn, says —
Everyone knows that feeling, something goes wrong and suddenly you are terrified that your precious data is missing. Maybe it is a game crashing, maybe your power goes out, perhaps you ran out of power in your battery, perhaps even a human moment occurs and accidentally close it. You curse yourself for not having copies and begin to frantically search for your data. Maybe you find it, or maybe you have to cut your losses are start at an earlier point, (maybe even from scratch)! When this happens you realize something we all know but don’t always bother doing when nothing is going wrong; Backups are important. Even when we think we have nothing of great importance to protect, “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”.
There are many backup options out there for you to choose from. Today I am going to address two of those options External hard drives and LiveDrive. Both of which we have readily available if you want to protect start protecting your data today!
External hard drives allow you to store data separate from your computer. So if your HD dies, your computer is stolen, or a surge fries your system all of your files will be intact. They are quite useful for travel as well. Going on vacation and don’t want to haul all your computer equipment? No problem! Throw them on here and hook it up to something once you arrive.
LiveDrive is a cloud backup program. This means is it makes copies of your data, encrypts it, and stores it on their servers. This is handy because if something catastrophic were to happen such as a fire and you lost everything (maybe even your external backup on the other side of the house), your data would still be safe on their servers so you could download it at your convenience.
How do you handle your back up?
