Windows 7 Update Issue With Fresh Load or After SP1
After you do a fresh load of windows or you install SP1 on your computer. You will soon discover issues when you try to run windows updates.
After installing fresh load or updating to SP1 on Windows 7 your computer will wait for hours/days checking for windows updates.
Install Update 3102810
If the update is not installing please stop the windows update service and try again. Once the update is installed reboot the computer and continue on with windows updates. If you seem to have a issue installing updates after installing 3102810. We would recommend that you run the following script and try again.
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
rd /s /q %windir%\softwaredistribution
net start bits
net start wuauserv
wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow
To use this script you must first open notepad. Then copy and paste the content above. Go to file and save as. Specify the name and change your extension to .cmd. for example you can name the file “Updatefix.cmd”. Then once saved double click on the file to run.
